Sophia Dacy-Cole is an artist, writer and PhD candidate at the Australian National University. In her research, she is interested in the the therapeutic effects of connecting to plants and soil on Country.

Terra and vegetal: communicating with plants and soil Past Event
In this hands-on 90-minute workshop, participants will be run through a series of gentle breathing exercises and meditations to help them communicate directly with plants and soil.
The workshop includes: theory of plant and soil communication, meditation techniques, actual communication with plants and soil, and discussing and unpacking together. The theory includes: contemporary animism and the growing field of plant and soil consciousness. The relationship between this research and decolonialism, including the debt this research has to indigenous knowledge. The benefits of plant and soil communication for nervous system healing.
At the core of this work, is the importance of taking the personhood of the nonhuman seriously if we are to survive into and enjoy the future. This is a small workshop for 5-8 people.
